Delirio.NET: Quando e come hai iniziato la tua carriera di modella bondage?
Ho iniziato la mia carriera bondage solo un paio di anni fa. Avevo cominciato a muovermi sulla "scena" qualche anno prima e avevo amici che facevano parte, e tutt'ora lo fanno, di comunità e gruppi di bdsm; ma la mia era una partecipazione non così frequente, ho preso parte a vari eventi locali, e a titolo gratuito ad alcune sfilate - a San Francisco se ne tengono sempre tante! Tuttavia, la mia carriera di modella fetish ha una storia differente, è ormai da diversi anni che ne sono coinvolta. All'inizio sono stata introdotta sulla scena attraverso nightclub e feste. Decisi che mi piaceva tutta quella roba luminosa e poi ho scoperto il PVC. Sono poi stata iniziata al latex e tutto è scaturito da lì. Ho incontrato una ragazza che faceva costumi ma necessitava di una cospicua donazione per iniziare il suo nuovo business, e io avevo un po' di soldi. E da questo è iniziato tutto!

Delirio.NET: Che cosa ti attrae nel bondage e nelle corde?
Amo le sospensioni. Mi piace stare appesa e adoro l'assenza di peso. Mi piace quando entro in quel particolare stato mentale e tutto, semplicemente, scatta. In un attimo assaporo quelle sensazioni che posso provare, come il piacere della cera sciolta che cola sopra di me, o il suono delle corde in tensione, o l'odore della canapa.

Delirio.NET: Il tuo look è molto particolare e intrigante, sempre in evoluzione: da che cosa ti lasci ispirare?
Non lo so. Mi piacciono le riviste di moda come qualsiasi altra persona che ha il gusto per questo. Quello che amo di più è sfogliare le riviste e osservare le immagini di vestiti bizzarri, fatti solitamente di materiali non convenzionali. Questo avviene quando chiedo al mio stilista preferito di ricrearli per me, ma in latex! Ogni tanto compro scarpe - IO ADORO LE SCARPE - e dopo creo una mise su misura attorno a loro.

Delirio.NET: Il bondage prima era appannaggio di una elìte, ora è entrato a far parte dell'immaginario collettivo: secondo te come mai sempre più persone si appassionano a questo gioco?
Non sono tanto sicura. Potrebbe essere per diverse ragioni. Le mode delle persone vengono dal mondo della musica, sopratutto il modo di vestire, le persone allaragano gli orizzonti perché è trendy farlo e ovviamente, a causa dei film più visti, dove i protagonisti principali indossano catene bondage o alcuni capi di moda fetish. Certo, queste sono solo alcune delle ragioni più superficiali. C'è anche il fatto che, forse, stiamo crescendo più consapevoli dalla naturalezza di tutte queste cose e quello che una volta era considerato "deviato" e sovversivo ora può essere visto come una sana espressione di normale sessualità, tra persone consensuali. Le persone stanno diventanto più aperte e istruite, almeno spero! Ora si vedono persino più programmi alla TV che non solo trattano relazioni "non convenzionali", ma includono pure un pò di sculacciate o suggerimenti ed allusioni al bondage. Nello stesso modo importanti magazines stanno concedendo sempre più spazio ai praticanti bondage. Se non mi sbaglio, recentemente alcuni nomi celebri hanno pubblicato articoli della mia amica Midori.

Delirio.NET: Qual è la parte del tuo corpo che trovi più sexy?
Mi piace il mio seno, ma penso di avere il sedere piatto. Oppure, potrei scavare nel profondo della mia mente, forse qualcuno troverebbe attraente se volessi discutere di storia o di arte della guerra.

Delirio.NET: La tua interpretazione del latex è davvero conturbante: che cosa provi quando lo indossi?
Il discorso non può semplicemente cominciare da qui! Devo partire proprio dall'inizio! Amo l'odore e la sensazione del latex nuovo di zecca. Ordino il mio latex da Laura al VexClothing a Chicago abbastanza spesso. Quando mi invia il mio pacchetto non vedo l'ora di aprirlo, ma questa aspettativa fa parte del gioco. Non riuscirei ad aprire la scatola dove mi trovo. Ho bisogno di stare in qualche luogo particolare, come la mia camera, per poterlo apprezzare al meglio e completamente. Quando esce dalla scatola "lui" (il latex) è solitamente avvolto in carta velina. Adoro il rumore che fa quando ne esce per la prima volta. Il latex odora di nuovo, è così fresco. Il talco che lo ricopre lascia un profumo dolce quasi quanto una caramella. Sfortunatamente, non rimane a lungo, ma comunque va bene lo stesso perché dopo che è stato indossato un paio di volte, l'odore del latex prende il sopravvento. Amo la sensazione che ti dà provarlo per la prima volta. E' così freddo e perfino troppo rigido, ma io non sono così paziente. Uso il lubrificante al silicone per indossarlo. Ne tengo una grossa quantità a casa che mi fa abbastanza felice di sapere che ne posso usare quasi quanto e quando ne ho più voglia. Certo, il latex è luminoso, liscio e così gustoso. Forse avrei potuto dire semplicemente questo, per rispondere in breve alla domanda!

Delirio.NET: Credi che il tuo fascino orientale abbia contribuito a far aumentare i tuoi fan e la tua popolarità?
L'essere asiatica è una fortuna perché mi fa sembrare sempre giovane, almeno così credo. Fortunatamente, mio padre mi ha dato qualcosa dell'Irlanda, e questo è utile per restare in piedi dopo che mi sono bevuta tutto il whiskey che ho trovato in giro! Credo che la ragione che mi ha permesso, e tutt'ora mi permette, di fare questo mestiere così a lungo, sia il fatto che ho iniziato in un momento in cui c'erano davvero poche modelle di fetish negli USA. Molte erano in Europa, presumo. Ma quello che mi fa continuare è che molte delle conoscenze che ho fatto - anche quelle recenti - le ho fatte incontrando la gente di persona, non solo attraverso internet. Comunque, internet, rimane divertente e utile, ma tende ad abbreviare e velocizzare in modo negativo la conoscenza tra le persone nella sua fase iniziale. Certo, conoscere persone online può essere divertente, ma è necessario rinforzare il tutto con la conoscenza live e con incontri fisici. Lo trovo vero specialmente se uno vuole cercare di aver successo in questo come lavoro. Ci sono sempre eccezioni, ma è così in molti tipi di lavoro.

Delirio.NET: Che cosa c'è nel futuro di Kumi? sarai presto a roma, a settembre, puoi anticipare qualcosa?
Al momento i progetti futuri sono... andare bene a scuola. Prima di questo, ho pianificato di andare a Londra e a Roma! A Roma molto presto! Ci sarò dal 23 al 27 Settembre. Sarò venerdì 24 settembre all'Alien per il Ritual party (Ritual Club). Poi torno a Londra per esibirmi e lavorare allo SkinTwo RubberBall. Poi, alla fine di Ottobre andrò a Toronto per un party. E tra un viaggio e l'altro, porto avanti i miei studi :)

Delirio.NET: When and how did you start your bondage model career?
I started my bondage career only a couple of years ago. I've been playing in the ‘scene' for some years before that and I've had friends that had and still belong to bdsm communities and groups but my attendance was never that frequent. I have participated in various local events by volunteering my time at parades - San Francisco has so many! My fetish modeling is a different story though. I've been at it for several years now! I was first introduced to the scene through nightclubs and parties. I decided I liked that shiny stuff and found out about PVC. Then I was introduced to latex and everything rolled on from there. I met a girl who made custom clothing but needed a large donation to fund her new business and I happened to have some money. And from there it just moved on...!!

Delirio.NET: What do you like in bondage and ropes?
I love the suspensions. I love hanging and the weightlessness of it all. I love it when I get into that certain headspace and everything just clicks. Once in a while I enjoy the other sensations that I can sense like the feel of the wax being poured on me, or the sound of the straining ropes, or the smell of the hemp.

Delirio.NET: Your always-in-evolution look is incredible, very peculiar and fascinating: where do you find the inspiration?
I don't know. I love fashion magazines like anyone else that has a taste for it. What I love most is going through magazines and seeing the images of extravagant outfits and yet they're made usually of conventional materials. This is when I ask my favorite designer to recreate something similar for me, but in latex! Sometimes I will shop for shoes - I LOVE SHOES - and then have an outfit created around those.

Delirio.NET: At the first, bondage belonged to particular part of society. Now, it's in everybody's culture. In your opinion, how come more and more people play bondage?
I'm not quite sure. It could be from a variety of reasons. The styles of individuals coming from the music scene, fashion in general, people trying to push boundaries because it gets trendy to do so and of course, movies with an edgy look where the main players are wearing bondage gear or some other type of fetish fashions. Of course, those are just some of the more superficial reasons. There is also the fact that perhaps we're growing more aware of the natural-ness of it all and that what was once considered deviant and subversive behavior can now be seen as a healthy expression of normal sexuality between consenting players. People are becoming more open and educated - I hope. There are even more programs on television now that not only touch unconventional relationships, but also include a little spanking or a bondage hints and innuendos. Also, more mainstream magazines are also giving bondage practitioners their due. If I'm not mistaken my friend Midori recently had some articles published by some publications with easily recognizable names.

Delirio.NET: What is the part of your body you find more attractive?
I like my boobs but I think I have a flat butt. Otherwise, I kinda dig what I have going on inside my head. Perhaps someone would find it attractive if they wanted to discuss history or warfare.

Delirio.NET: Your interpretation of latex is very hot: what do you feel when you wear it?
I cant just start there! I have to begin at the beginning. I love the smell and feel of brand new latex. I order my latex from Laura at VexClothing in Chicago quite often. When she sends me my package I cant wait to open it but the anticipation is part of it. I wont just rip open the box where I stand. I need to be somewhere like my room in order to fully appreciate it. When it comes out of the box she usually has it wrapped in tissue paper. I love the noise it makes when it first slides out. The latex smells new and cold and so fresh. There's a smell that hangs on the powder that's on it. It's almost sweet like candy. Unfortunately, it doesn't last, but then that's OK too because after it's been worn a couple of times, the smell of the latex will come through. I love the sensation of first trying the latex on. It's so fresh and almost too pristine but then I'm not that patient. I use silicone lube to put it on. I keep it in quantity at home and it makes me feel quite happy to know I can use almost as much of it as I choose to. Of course the latex is shiny and smooth and just yummy. Maybe I should have just said that so I could write a shorter answer!

Delirio.NET: Do you find that your oriental charm is a reason for the increase of your popularity?
Being Asian has made me lucky because it keeps me looking young. That's what I would guess. Luckily, my father has given me some Irish and that keeps me standing up after having had all the whiskey I can find in a place! I think the reason I've been able to do this for as long as I've have is because I started at a time when there were very few fetish models around in the U.S. Most were in Europe I suppose. But what keeps me going is the fact that most of my connections that I've made - even recent ones - are through meeting people face to face, not just through the internet. Although still fun and useful, I feel that the internet as abridged and shorted the way people make initial acquaintances in a negative way. Sure, meeting people online can be fun, but it needs to be reinforced with eye contact and some sort of physical meeting. I find it especially true if one wants to even try to succeed in this as a business. There are always exceptions, but still, I'd find this to be true in most any type of work.

Delirio.NET: What's Kumi's future plans? You'll be in Rome soon, in September, could you anticipate something?
Future plans right now are to do well in school. More immediately, I plan on being in London and Rome! Soon Rome! September 23 - Sept 27, in fact. Friday, September 24 I will be at Alien for the Ritual party (Ritual Club). Then back to London to perform and work at the SkinTwo RubberBall. Then at the end of October I go to Toronto for a party there. And in between all the traveling I bring my studies... :)
